July 19, 2009: First Annual Hudson Valley Bike Ride is a Huge Success!

The first annual Hudson Valley Bike Ride to benefit JBFCS has exceeded our goals! On the morning of Sunday, July 19th, 260 riders took off from our Hawthorne Cedar Knolls campus in Westchester, with some early birds leaving as early as 6:30am, and in the process raised over $400,000 to support our programs helping New Yorkers in need. The bikers followed scenic routes from a selection of paths ranging from 10 - 100 miles. This fundraising bike ride was the brainchild of incoming Board president, Tony Mann.

The riders included approximately 75 JBFCS employees, representing 20 of our programs, as well as a dozen members of our Board of Trustees. Many people participated as volunteers for everything from supplying cool water, to manning the rest stops, to helping people find what they needed. An outdoor Kosher Barbecue with klezmer/blue grass music at the finish line gave everything just the right touch.

Next year’s ride is tentatively scheduled for July 18, 2010.
